I didn't get out as much in 2019 as I would've liked (and for that I apologize!) but being a dad is pretty great too. Full disclosure - often times things don't go as p Full disclosure - often times things don't go as planned when it comes to photography (and life I guess!) There is only 1-2 times per year that the full moon lines up with the capitol and I set out to capture that tonight as it was SUPPOSED to be clear. Well wouldn't you know that when it was game time there was a thin strip of clouds that ran right smack through the moon as it rose through the capitol. So, I took another shot about 5 minutes later when the moon was fully visible and had to merge the 2 files together. Most will yell "PHOTOSHOP" when they see this image and you're partially right - I did had to do some photoshopping to make my vision come to life. But the moon was not enlarged in any way - I was roughly 5.5 miles away from the capitol so the moon looks much larger to its surroundings when there is that much distance between you. Thanks to a friend giving me a call, this was one of those situations where you drop everything and go! 3 bobcat kittens and 1 adult had cornered a groundhog in a culvert and no sooner than I arrived they had captured it and the one young kitten was able to feast. I found it odd that none of the others were participating in the eating but perhaps this was a lesson and the victor gets the spoils? If you look closely, you can see all 4 in this image. I've seen images of places in this world that you I've seen images of places in this world that you almost have to see with your own eyes to believe (like Kirkjufell + waterfalls in Iceland). Fortunately through photography, I've been able to do just that and visited this spot in Colorado on Wednesday. Crystal Mill is an 1892 wooden powerhouse located on the Crystal River - only accessible via high clearance 4x4 vehicles or a 9 mile round trip hike.
